titleOfInvention Liquid metering transfer valve device especially for flow cytometer
abstract (57) [Summary] A metering transfer valve device (12) used in a particle analyzer for studying particles in a liquid suspension. The valve device has at least one pair of inner and outer valve elements (36, 40) coaxially disposed face-to-face with the central valve element (38) and frictionally engaged to seal. Each of these valve elements allows independent rotation. A first passage (44, 30) 90 defining a first flow path through the valve device and a second passage (52, 128, 90) defining a second flow path through the valve device are provided. A measuring chamber (128) for measuring and transferring an accurate sample aliquot of the sample flow in the first channel to the second channel is provided in the first channel. The first channel is brought to the first outer position and the second channel is brought to the second outer position. After transferring the aliquot, drive fluid is introduced into the second flow path to propel the aliquot.
