abstract |
(57) Summary A hydrophilic pressure sensitive adhesive comprising a polyethylene oxide-derived network plasticized with an essentially non-volatile polar plasticizer present in an amount sufficient to form a cohesive pressure sensitive adhesive. The polymer network is derived from an ethylenically unsaturated, end-capped, bifunctional polyethylene glycol component. This adhesive is useful as a biomedical adhesive for transmitting or receiving electric signals as a component of the biopharmaceutical electrode (10). The adhesive is also useful as a drug delivery device (40) for introducing a drug or other active ingredient into or through mammalian skin. The adhesive is also useful with antimicrobial agents as a component of skin coatings (30) for protecting mammalian skin or wounds on this skin. A method of making this adhesive was also revealed. |
