| abstract | (57) Summary A self-contained, independently positionable data acquisition pod suitable for use in a device including a display device is disclosed. The pod collects multiple analog data signals representative of a medical patient condition using multiple sensors coupled to the patient. The data acquisition pod includes multiple lines for receiving analog data signals from multiple sensors. The analog signal is filtered and amplified, and then a multiplexer combines the analog signals. The combined signal is converted from an analog signal to a digital signal. The data acquisition pod is selectively coupled to the display device to provide a multiplexed output signal to the display device. The signal path between the pod and the patient is made substantially shorter than the signal path between the pod and the display to reduce RF interference in the analog signal. The analog signals include a patient's electrocardiogram (ECG) signal and a signal representative of either blood oxygen saturation and temperature or cardiac output. Data representing electroencephalogram (EEG), blood pressure, blood oxygen partial pressure and blood carbon dioxide partial pressure can also be collected. An initial switch is provided on the pod for initializing the display device to display the waveform. |
