abstract | (57) [Summary] The discharge valve device (30) selectively blocks the part of the piston (21) from the discharge manifold (42) circumferentially located around the head wall of the cylinder (20). The exhaust valve device has an annular portion (22b) on the inner surface of the cylinder that is configured to selectively prevent air from escaping radially from the head of the cylinder. The discharge manifold (42) opens and closes as the discharge valve device (30) is lifted in a vertical guillotine type motion. Further, the introduction valve device (50) is provided on the cylinder head (26) and has an annular shape or a washer shape. Timing of both valves is facilitated by a single spring (100) and planar timing bearings (70, 110), such as inlet and outlet gears. Each of the introduction timing bearing (70) and the ejection timing bearing (110) is provided with a cam surface facing the other bearing. The introduction timing bearing (70) and the discharge timing bearing are followed by respective roller tappets (72, 112). This valve opening and closing and timing improve the flexibility of the design of the combustion chamber (21a). |
