(57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to a method of isomerizing 2-pentenoic acid into 3-pentenoic acid and 4-pentenoic acid. The present invention more specifically relates to acidic solid catalysts selected from acidic molecular sieves, clays, crosslinked clays (or pillar clays), solid oxides and acidic phosphates, basic metals with 2-pentenoic acid in the gas phase. 2-Pentenoic acid is characterized in that it is contacted with a basic solid catalyst selected from phosphates, basic metal oxides and basic molecular sieves or an amphoteric solid catalyst selected from amphoteric metal oxides. The process consists of isomerizing to pentenoic acid. |
