titleOfInvention Fluid delivery device using multi-port valve
abstract (57) Summary The present invention relates to an improved multi-port rotary valve in an automated chemical processor that reduces cross-contamination of chemical reagents and simplifies structure and control. One or more multi-ported rotary valves are used for the separated valves, each separating valve delivering the relevant reagents within the device. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the device uses a multi-port valve forming several fluid branches, each associated with one reagent. The valve has a common inlet and a common outlet, which are in selective communication with the branches in a controlled order. Each branch is provided with a two-way, three-port valve that controls the introduction of the reagent of interest into the branch. When the branch pipe is selected by the rotary valve, the reagent introduced into the branch pipe is delivered to the outside of the common outlet by the flow from the common inlet. Several combinations of such rotary valves and isolation valves are combined in tandem or in parallel to accommodate a large number of different reagents. According to another embodiment of the invention, the reagents are introduced via a separation valve between two multi-boat rotary valves.
