titleOfInvention | Flat magnetic resonance imaging magnet |
abstract | (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To provide a flat magnetic resonance imaging magnet. A superconducting coil assembly including a doughnut-shaped housing 14 accommodating a superconducting main coil set 28 and a superconducting auxiliary coil set 34 that are spaced apart in the radial direction. The main coil set includes a first main coil 30 arranged to be radially closer to the second circumferential outer surface 22 of the housing. The auxiliary coil set includes three auxiliary coils 36, 38, 40 that are radially spaced apart such that they are radially closer to the first circumferential outer surface of the housing. Each of the first main coil and the intermediate auxiliary coil carries an equal current in the first direction. Each of the other two auxiliary coils carries the same current in opposite directions. This coil configuration creates a longitudinal imaging volume that is wider than the longitudinal thickness of the magnet. |
