abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a novel crown ether compound and a magnetic recording medium using the same, which is excellent in lubricity and wear resistance and has good tribological performance. A magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer on a non-magnetic substrate, wherein the magnetic recording medium has a lubricating layer containing a crown ether compound having an organic group having a molecular skeleton that plays a lubricating role. The recording medium has a good durability because the adsorption phenomenon (sticking) is suppressed.
