(57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a method for evaluating a photocatalytic activity, which can easily evaluate the photocatalytic activity without going through a gas reaction or a biological reaction. According to the method for evaluating photocatalytic activity of the present invention, an evaluation reaction substance (alkali halide aqueous solution 3) that reacts with holes or electrons generated when a substance having photocatalytic activity (photocatalytic thin film 2) is irradiated with light is evaluated. It includes a step of applying to the surface, a step of irradiating the surface with ultraviolet rays, and a step of quantifying the reaction amount of the evaluation reaction substance. In this step, the reaction substance to be evaluated causes reactions such as oxidation and reduction. The photocatalytic activity of the surface to be evaluated can be quantitatively evaluated by quantifying the amount of this reaction from the change in the pH or color of the evaluation reaction substance. |
