(57) Abstract: A thermal dye transfer system without a post-treatment fume process is provided. A dye-donor element comprising a) a support having a cationic dye, or a dye layer comprising a deprotonated cationic dye that can be reprotonated to a cationic dye having an NH group, and b) a polymer. A dye receiving element comprising a support having a dye image receiving layer, the dye receiving element being in an overlapping relationship with a donor element such that the dye layer is in contact with said receiving layer. Said layer comprising an organic acid moiety capable of reprotonating said deprotonated cationic dye as part of a polymer chain, said polymeric dye image-receiving layer comprising a polyester, acrylic polymer or styrene polymer A thermal dye transfer assembly comprising a receiving element. |
