abstract | (57) 【Abstract】 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the fine particle size and high aspect ratio of smectite type clay used for paper coating while maintaining its viscosity, Reduces thixotropy and abrasion. SOLUTION: A slurry of sodium smectite-type clay and a slurry of calcium smectite-type clay are separately prepared, and these two types of slurries are separately degrit-treated to substantially remove impurities of coarse particles and then washed. To remove a substantial portion of the undesired soluble salts and further fractionate to narrow the particle size range of the smectite-type clay in the slurry, and then mix these two slurries to form a sodium / calcium mixed smectite-type clay. Obtain a slurry. Then, it may be dried to obtain a solid powder. |
