(57) [Abstract] [Purpose] A higher NOx removal rate and a wider NOx for exhaust gas containing oxygen and nitrogen oxides. Provided are an exhaust gas purifying catalyst having an effective removal temperature range and high temperature heat resistance, and an exhaust gas purifying method. An exhaust gas purifying catalyst comprising a carrier comprising at least one selected from a metal carbide and a metal nitride and having iridium and an alkali metal as essential components. Furthermore, an exhaust gas purifying catalyst supporting at least one selected from the group consisting of alkaline earth elements and rare earth elements, and an exhaust gas purifying method using these catalysts. |
