[Constitution] 0.5 to at least one surface on a non-magnetic support A magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic intermediate layer having a thickness of 3.0 μm and a magnetic layer having a ferromagnetic powder and a binder as a main component and having a thickness of 0.1 to 0.5 μm. Is provided with the magnetic layer in a dry state, Further, the intermediate layer comprises: A: an inorganic substance having an average particle size of 10 to 50 nm and a Mohs hardness of 7 or less B: an inorganic substance having an average particle size of 100 to 500 nm and a Mohs hardness of 9 or more C: carbon black, and a lubricant and a binder.
