(57) [Abstract] The present invention relates to an improvement of a decompression method and apparatus that function to decode and / or decompress a plurality of different encoded input signals. A multi-standard video decoding device is connected by a two-wire interface and has a plurality of processing stages 36 arranged as a pipeline processing device. Control tokens and data tokens are two wiring interfaces for transmitting both control and data in token format. 1, 42. The token decryption circuit 33 is placed in this specific stage in order to recognize a specific token as a control token specific to a specific stage and to send an unrecognized control token along the pipeline. The reconfiguration processing circuitry is responsive to the recognized control tokens placed in the selected stage to reconfigure such stage to handle the recognized identified data token. |
