abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] An object of the present invention is to provide a desulfurization agent that suppresses carbon deposition that occurs during desulfurization of a high-temperature reducing gas containing carbon monoxide. A desulfurizing agent comprising a metal compound containing iron, which is used for desulfurizing a high-temperature reducing gas containing carbon monoxide gas under carbon deposition conditions, wherein the desulfurizing agent has a molar amount of an iron component. A desulfurizing agent containing a silicon component in a molar amount of 0.5 times or more.
