abstract | (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a method for producing a benzotriazole derivative which can be obtained in high yield and high productivity without causing a problem of waste treatment such as wastewater treatment. The present invention includes a 2-nitro-2′-hydroxyazobenzene derivative represented by the following general formula (I) represented by the general formula (I) and a 2-nitro-2′-hydroxyazobenzene derivative represented by the following general formula (II) In producing a (2′-hydroxyphenyl) benzotriazole derivative, benzo is characterized by performing a reductive ring closure with hydrogen in the presence of a platinum-based catalyst poisoned with a sulfur compound and a basic substance in a solvent.
