abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a novel manganese composite oxide and a method for producing the same. Furthermore, by using this manganese composite oxide as a positive electrode active material, a manganese-based lithium secondary battery having excellent cycle characteristics is provided. [Structure] It consists of acicular particles and has a spinel crystal structure. Chemical formula LiM X Mn 2-X O4 (where M is Ni, Co, F at least one selected from e and Cr, and 0 <X ≦ 0.5), a novel manganese composite oxide, γ-MnOOH composed of acicular particles or β-MnO 2 composed of acicular particles, a lithium compound, Ni, Co, A manufacturing method of firing a mixture with at least one metal material selected from Fe and Cr, and a lithium secondary battery using the mixture as a positive electrode active material of a lithium secondary battery.
