titleOfInvention | Improved radiation sensitive emulsions and photographic elements |
abstract | (57) Abstract: An improved radiation sensitive emulsion and photographic element are provided. High bromide tabular grains exhibit an average thickness of less than 0.07 μm and have sensitivity due to latent image forming reduction chemical sensitization sites and emulsions having spectral sensitizing dyes adsorbed on their surface. Improved and minimum concentration reduced. The tabular grains contain dopants capable of forming shallow electron trapping sites, and the spectral sensitizing dye exhibits an oxidation potential more positive than 1.2 volts. Also disclosed are photographic elements in which the emulsion is placed in a layer overlying the minus blue recording emulsion layer. 97 of the total projected area of silver halide grains having an equivalent circular diameter of at least 0.2 μm in the overcoat emulsion layer. Outstanding sharp images are formed in the minus blue recording emulsion layer when more than the percent area is occupied by tabular grains having an average equivalent circular diameter of at least 0.7 .mu.m. |
