| abstract | (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To provide a sound insulation device for a timing belt that absorbs noise generated around the timing belt of the engine and reduces the noise. A timing belt cover 30 that surrounds a timing belt 29 of an engine 20, a sound absorbing plate 34 disposed on the inner surface of the timing belt cover 30, and a rotation speed detection unit that is attached to the engine 20 to detect the rotation speed. The sound-absorbing plate 34 and the electro-sensitive type acoustic wave absorption controlling fluid composition containing solid particles having an electric field array effect in an electrically insulating medium are opposed to each other with a gap therebetween. A voltage is applied between the pair of electrode plates containing the fluid composition for electro-sensitive sound wave absorption control, and the pair of electrode plates in accordance with the engine speed detected by the engine speed detecting means.
