abstract (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To provide an image processing apparatus in which loss of image data does not occur when reducing an image of a document. A reading unit that reads image data of a document, a setting unit that sets a reduction ratio, and a predetermined pixel between a target pixel and a pixel adjacent to the target pixel according to the reduction ratio set by the setting unit. Reduction interpolation processing means for performing the interpolation processing of, and thinning means for thinning out the image data subjected to reduction interpolation by the reduction interpolation processing means so as to become image data of a size determined by the reduction ratio set by the setting means, Image forming means for forming an image on a sheet based on the image data thinned out by the thinning means.
