titleOfInvention AC type plasma display device and driving method thereof
abstract (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To improve luminous efficiency. [Structure] When driving an AC type plasma display panel, discharge mode B or mode A is used to improve the luminous efficiency. This is done by applying a drive pulse to the AC discharge electrode so that electrons are emitted from only a part of the surface of the AC discharge electrode 1a, 1b in the discharge cell 31, thereby generating the AC discharge 22, or by the discharge cell. To stop the discharge before the current flowing through the cell reaches its maximum value in time, or reduce the voltage of the drive pulse before the current flowing in the discharge cell reaches the maximum value in time so as not to generate the maximum value. Or by stopping the discharge by reducing the voltage applied to the AC discharge electrode before the wall charge is formed on the AC discharge electrode and the discharge automatically decreases.
