abstract (57) [Summary] [Objective] An aromatizer product stream with significant amounts of impurities boiling in the toluene range is selectively produced with para-xylene-rich xylene, along with benzene and, if desired, toluene. , At the same time impurities can be converted from para-xylene-rich xylene and benzene, and, if desired, from toluene, to products which can be easily separated by simple distillation. A toluene-containing feed containing at least about 70% toluene and at least about 0.2 wt.% To about 5 wt.% Boiling near non-aromatics, with a reduced amount of near boiling non-aromatics. A process for producing a product comprising contacting the feed with an acidic para-selective intermediate pore size molecular sieve catalyst having an α value of greater than about 10 to produce a product.
