[Structure] A merocyanine labeled dye consisting of an isothiocyanate derivative represented by the following formula is synthesized from trimethylindolenine and reacted with a protein in a phosphate buffer solution to prepare a merocyanine labeled protein. The absorbance at 280 and 560 nm is measured to confirm that the protein was labeled with dye.
