abstract |
(57) Summary [Objective] A method for improving the modulus of rubber without sacrificing other properties, which is achieved by forming and randomly dispersing fibrils of polypropylene throughout the rubber matrix. [Composition] A rubber composition having a high modulus is (1) (a) forming a blend of a polymer alloy containing polypropylene and (b) an unvulcanized rubber stock, wherein the polypropylene is present in the blend in an amount of about 5 to about 25 phr; and (2) applying heat. And orienting the polypropylene by flowing the blend into the molding cavity and then vulcanizing the rubber stock in the blend. |
