Hierarchical connection method, device and protocol |
abstract |
(57) [Summary] (Modified) [Purpose] To provide a protocol and addressable shadow port circuit that efficiently extend the serial bus capability to the backplane environment. [Configuration] The protocol coexists with the existing serial bus system and is designed to be completely compatible. The circuitry and protocol connects any of the boards 1-n to the serial bus master SBM via the system backplane bus and the protocol operates to select the board without interfering with normal operation on the system backplane bus. Protocols and circuits have been extended to hierarchical systems, SB M selectively accesses and communicates with any device located at any level of the hierarchy. Further, each remote serial bus master is connected to the main serial bus master, and an autonomous test can be performed by the remote serial bus master device under the control of the main serial bus master. |
