abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] Inform the user of the useful life of wiper blades for windshields of vehicles. [Structure] A strip 10 is coated with a paint on a blade portion 7 having a wiping end portion 9 which comes into contact with a surface to be wiped. The coating material contains a dye that irreversibly changes color upon exposure to a predetermined amount of ultraviolet light. [Effect] The discoloration of the strip allows the user to know when to replace the wiper blade.
