titleOfInvention Medical instrument assembly
abstract (57) Summary: A medical device assembly comprising an element and a restraining means for use in or near a mammalian body such that the element is substantially at body temperature, the element comprising: Is made of a pseudoelastic shape memory alloy that exhibits reversible stress-induced martensite at body temperature; the element is deformed to a shape different from the final shape by the formation of stress-induced martensite, and then constrained in the deformed shape by restraining means; A medical device assembly characterized in that the element and the restraint are placed in a living body, then the restraint is removed and the element isothermically transferred from the deformed shape to the final shape. [Effect] The shape memory alloy can be used close to the living body or in the living body without a large temperature change.
