[Structure] Letting the enzyme act on the racemic chroman derivative, Asymmetric hydrolysis is performed on the 2-dimensional structure to obtain an optically active substance. According to the present invention, an optically active chroman derivative having satisfactory optical purity and yield can be obtained, and optically active α-tocopherol (vitamin E) can be efficiently synthesized from the optically active substance.
