abstract (57) [Summary] (Revised) [Composition] Valinomycin, bis [(benzo15-crown 5) Forms a complex with an ionophore such as 4'-methyl] pimelate and a cation (1) such as potassium ion and sodium ion, and a cation (2) such as copper (I) ion and iron (II) ion. A cation measuring instrument characterized by comprising a dye such as bathocuproine or bathophenanthroline whose light absorption spectrum is changed by the above, in a poorly water-soluble and hardly volatile organic solvent such as o-nitrophenyl octyl ether or diphenyl ether. [Effect] By adopting various measurement modes, the specific cation in the liquid sample can be made to respond with good selectivity, and the cation concentration can be quantified with less error. Since the rate of change of the light absorption spectrum is faster than that of a conventional cation measuring instrument that changes the light absorption spectrum by co-extracting cations and anions, a quick measurement can be performed.
