titleOfInvention | Method for producing N-substituted maleimide |
abstract | (57) [Summary] [Purpose] A high-purity N-containing maleic anhydride-free product by a simple one-pot reaction while maintaining the reaction system in a homogeneous phase. Substituted maleimides are synthesized in high yield. [Constitution] In a method for producing N-methylmaleimide from maleic anhydride and methylamine, using xylenesulfonic acid as a catalyst, (a) xylene is used as a solvent, (B) 0.8 × SA + MAn ≧ A ≧ 0.45 × SA + M An (wherein A is the number of moles of thymelamine, SA is the number of moles of aromatic sulfonic acid, and MAn is the number of moles of maleic anhydride), and (c) water produced during the reaction is azeotropically distilled. Then, (d) the reaction is carried out while keeping the reaction system in a homogeneous phase. |
