titleOfInvention Method for producing m-hydroxybenzyl alcohol
abstract (57) [Summary] [Structure] m-Hydroxybenzoic acid undergoes an electrolytic reduction reaction in an acidic aqueous solution in the cathode chamber of an electrolytic cell where the positive and negative electrodes are separated. -When preparing hydroxybenzyl alcohol, the mixed solution containing unreacted m-hydroxybenzoic acid was adjusted to pH 6-8. Is adjusted to separate m-hydroxybenzyl alcohol and m-hydroxybenzoic acid alkali salt, and the separated m-hydroxybenzoic acid solution is subjected to acid precipitation and recrystallization, A method for producing reused m-hydroxybenzyl alcohol. [Effect] Since it can be reused in the electrolytic reduction reaction to produce m-hydroxybenzyl alcohol in high yield, it is industrially extremely advantageous.
