abstract (57) [Summary] [Structure] Carbon of about 0.05 to about 0.35, manganese of about 0.5 to about 2.0, molybdenum of about 0.5 to 1.75, and about 0 by weight. .3 to about 1.0 chrome, about 0.01 to about 0.1 niobium, about 0.003 to about 0.06 sulfur, about 0.003 to about 0.015 nitrogen, about 0.2. A composition of a special purpose steel for forging comprising silicon to about 1.0 and the balance iron and usual impurities is provided. The steel is worked in the austenite phase to yield a fully tempered austenite phase, cooled to transform the microscopic structure into a mixture of ferrite and bainite, and then cold forged to its final shape. [Effect] It is possible to provide a wide variety of steel materials that can be used in a wide range of applications without heat treatment after rolling.
