titleOfInvention Chloride glass material for light transmission
abstract (57) [Summary] [Constitution] A chloride glass material characterized by comprising a lanthanide rare earth element as a main component cation of a glass base material and a chloride containing an alkaline earth element as a minor cation. There are 50 to 9 lanthanide rare earth elements. Chloride glass material for light transmission containing 0 mol% and 50 to 10 mol% of alkaline earth element. [Effect] It has excellent transparency to light in a wide range of wavelengths from visible light to far infrared, has no deliquescent property, and has a high glass transition point, so it can be used as a glass material for optical fibers for high energy transmission. It can be used in a wide range of applications such as optical waveguides for infrared thermometers at low temperatures. Further, a filter having an absorption band in a part of the wavelength range can also be used as an optical filter.
