titleOfInvention Simplified digital pad sensor
abstract (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To provide a reliable and high-density switch closed type touch pad sensor which can be easily manufactured. The touchpad sensor comprises a plurality of first conductive strips proximate a plurality of second conductive strips. The first and second conductive strips lie substantially in a single plane, in plan view, skewed to each other, and ideally orthogonal. The conductive strips are separated by an insulator extending along at least one conductive strip to keep one conductive strip away from the other conductive strip until local pressure is applied to the area of the pad. It When localized pressure is applied, the conductive strips and the insulator deform until one of the first conductive strips forms a conductive path with at least one of the second conductive strips. The formation of the conductive path can be detected using drivers and receivers.
