abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] A thermal transfer recording medium having a heat-fusible colored ink layer containing carnauba wax, which has excellent abrasion resistance and scratch resistance, as a main component of the vehicle, prevents environmental pollution and is easy to coat. Well, manufacture without deteriorating the transfer performance. A heat-meltable colored ink layer comprising a color pigment and a vehicle containing 50 to 95% by weight of carnauba wax is provided on a support, and the ink layer has an acid value of 30 or more for the vehicle. 5 to 30% by weight of the wax or water-soluble acrylic polymer based on the total amount of the vehicle. Water-soluble dispersion liquid obtained by dispersing it in an aqueous medium at a ratio of 10 to 40%, polyvinyl alcohol having an average degree of polymerization of 200 to 3000, or a water-soluble acrylic polymer with respect to the color pigment. A thermal transfer recording medium formed by applying a coating liquid comprising an aqueous dispersion which is used in an amount of 30% by weight and is dispersed in an aqueous medium.
