abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a kneading machine capable of increasing the kneading amount per hour, particularly a kneading machine suitable for producing high-quality toner for electrostatic image development. In a kneading machine in which a rotatable screw is provided in a barrel 12 to form a kneading section, a plurality of gates 14 capable of adjusting the opening degree of a material passage to be kneaded are provided in the kneading sections 2 to 8. In this case, when the length of the kneading portion from the supply port of the material to be kneaded to the discharge port 9 of the kneaded material is L, the gate 14a closest to the supply port is discharged to the position of 0.1L to 0.5L from the supply port. The gate 14b closest to the exit is 0.5 from the supply port They are provided at positions L to 0.9 L, respectively, and the inner diameter of the gate on the outlet side is smaller than or equal to the inner diameter of the gate on the supply port side.
