(57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a method for producing highly pure 1,3-dihydroxy-4,6-bis [α-methyl-α- (4'-hydroxyphenyl) ethyl] benzene. [Structure] At least one selected from a linear polymer of resorcin and 4-isopropenylphenol and 4-isopropenylphenol in the presence of an acidic catalyst in a mixed solvent of a nonpolar solvent (benzene) and a polar solvent (methanol). The reaction of one phenolic compound is initiated in a homogeneous reaction system. |
