abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] To provide a fuel vapor discrimination method and a device therefor for avoiding erroneous discrimination and more reliably discriminating fuel vapor. [Configuration] In a measured atmosphere in which only one fuel vapor selected from the group consisting of at least two kinds of fuel exists, A method for determining the type of the one fuel vapor, the measuring means having the same number as or more than the number of types of the fuel constituting the group and having different sensitivities to the respective fuel vapors are prepared; The order of the magnitude relationship of the output of each measuring means with respect to the concentration of each fuel vapor is preset so as to be different for each fuel vapor; each measuring means is arranged in the measured atmosphere in which only one fuel vapor exists. The order of the outputs is determined from the magnitude relation of the outputs obtained from the respective measuring means; and the type of the fuel vapor is determined by comparing the determined order with a preset order.
