titleOfInvention | Method for monitoring bioelectrochemical reaction and its reaction medium |
abstract | (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide an efficient and stable method and apparatus for determining a reaction of a substrate in a gas phase or a vapor phase by monitoring an analyte using an electrochemical cell. [Structure] An analyte in a gas phase or a vapor phase is identified while a bioreceptor or a biofunctional mimic is held on a support of an electrode. The support for the electrodes is preferably composed of a solid or gel-like matrix of electrolyte, in particular organic salt electrolyte. The resulting electrochemical assay of analytes has several advantages over conventional methods of solution monitoring. For example, a gas sensor can be obtained that monitors the analyte by reaction with a bioreceptor or biomimetic, and the presence or absence of a poison due to inhibition of the bioreceptor or biomimetic reaction can be monitored. Furthermore, It is also possible to monitor a gas-phase or vapor-phase analyte with a sensor at high sensitivity, high speed, and stably. The present invention also relates to novel media for conducting bioelectrochemical reactions. |
