In indicated (S) - or (R) - aziridine-2-carboxylic acid derivative as a raw material, the general formula (II): R 3 2 CuLi (II) ( wherein, R 3 is a monovalent non-aromatic hydrocarbon A hydrogen group, an aralkyl group or an aryl group) is allowed to act to open the aziridine ring while maintaining the steric configuration of the raw material, thereby optically active α- A method for producing an amino acid derivative. [Effect] A method for easily producing an optically active α-amino acid derivative is provided.
