titleOfInvention Magnetic recording medium
abstract (57) [Summary] [Structure] A magnetic layer made of a metal magnetic thin film and a carbon protective film are formed on a non-magnetic support. A lubricant composed of a compound such as a carboxylic acid ester, a furan-2-carboxylic acid ester, or a thiophene-2-carboxylic acid ester is applied. In the above compounds, Each of the substituents R in the carboxylic acid ester (—COOR) is a hydrocarbon group having 10 to 30 carbon atoms or a partially fluorinated hydrocarbon group having 10 or more carbon atoms and 17 or more fluorine atoms. [Effect] Due to the lubricating effect of the lubricant, the lubricity is exerted on the surface of the magnetic recording medium for a long time under any use condition. Therefore, the magnetic recording medium has excellent wear resistance and durability, and particularly excellent running property.
