abstract |
(57) [Summary] [Objective] To improve the hydrolytic stability of polyester-polycarbonate blend compositions. The polyester-polycarbonates of the present invention comprise polyesters having epoxy functionality, polycarbonates, and certain deactivators such as metal acid phosphates, metal acid pyrophosphates and metal polyphosphates. It consists of a catalyst deactivator selected from the group. A preferred polyester having epoxy functionality comprises a polyester reacted with a difunctional epoxy compound. The present invention provides improved hydrolytic stability as compared to polyester-polycarbonate compositions which use different catalyst deactivators to reduce transesterification. The hydrolytic stability provided by the present invention is also superior to blends where polyesters and polyfunctional epoxy compounds are simply mixed with polycarbonate and catalyst deactivators. |
