Synthetic polypeptides and antibodies related to Epstein-Barr virus early antigen (diffusion) |
abstract |
(57) [Summary] [Objective] To allow diagnosis of EBV loci in diseases and stages of diseases such as infectious mononucleosis (IM), and to limit and avoid handling of infected cell cultures. Provided are improved reagents and methods for assaying for the presence of EA-D and anti-EA-D antibodies in a body sample. A synthetic polypeptide consisting essentially of about 6 to about 40 amino acid residues having a sequence corresponding to the amino acid residue sequence of about position 350 to about position 362 of the EBV EA-D protein from its amino terminus. A receptor that is produced against and is capable of immunoreacting with the EA-D protein. |
