(57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a method capable of producing 3- (p-fluorophenyl) -2-methylpropionic acid and its derivatives in a high yield by a simple method without troublesome impurities. [Constitution] p-fluoroaniline is converted to p-fluorophenyldiazonium salt (II), and diazonium salt (II) methacrylic acid derivative (III) is added in the presence of a palladium catalyst, optionally in the presence of a base and / or a solvent. By reacting below to compounds (IV) and (V), The resulting compounds (IV) and (V) are hydrogenated with hydrogen in the presence of a palladium catalyst to produce 3- (p-fluorophenyl) -2-methylpropionic acid and its derivative (I).
