abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] To provide a method for measuring a genotoxic substance such as a mutagenic substance with high sensitivity and in a wide measurement range. A recombinant gene comprising an SOS gene that is expressed upon DNA damage, a gene that is located downstream of the gene and that expresses a luciferase activity, and a gene that expresses an enzyme that catalyzes the production of a substrate for the luciferase activity. Culturing the host microorganism transformed by the method described above in a medium containing a test sample, and measuring the luminescence due to the expression of a gene group expressing luminescence activity. A method for determining the presence or absence or determining the abundance of a poison. [Effect] Compared with the conventional colorimetric method, the measurement range is about 10 times wider, the minimum detection density is 5 times or more lower, and the operation is very simple.
