A hermetically sealed compressor 11 in which an electric motor 31 including a stator 33 and a rotor 35 and a compression machine 32 drivingly connected to the electric motor 31 via a rotary shaft 34 are housed in a hermetically sealed case 30, HCF for refrigerant C refrigerant is used to lubricate the compressor sliding portion with refrigerating machine oil 57, while polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) is used as the motor insulating material of the electric motor 31.
