abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a method for racemization of optically active 1- (halogenophenyl) ethylamines which can be industrially carried out. [Structure] Optically active 1- (halogenophenyl), which is characterized by dehydrating and concentrating optically active 1- (halogenophenyl) ethylamine with acetophenones, heating in the presence of an alkali metal alkoxide, and then hydrolyzing. Ethylamine racemization method. [Effects] Optically active 1- (halogenophenyl) ethylamine can be racemized by industrially practical means, and by repeating optical resolution, it can be converted into a useful optically active substance in good yield.
