abstract (57) [Summary] [Structure] 4- (2-halo-1-hydroxyethyl)- An optically active 4- (2-halo-1-hydroxyethyl) -2-trifluoromethylthiazole is produced by allowing an enzyme having esterase activity that asymmetrically hydrolyzes to act on a racemic ester of 2-trifluoromethylthiazole. And its antipodal ester, and separate and collect each. [Effect] The optically active 4- (2-halo-1-hydroxyethyl) -2-trifluoromethylthiazole and its antipodal ester can be industrially advantageously produced.
