(57) [Summary] (Modified) [Objective] To create a coded and compressed digital data stream from an original input digital data stream using the forward separable wavelet transform and tree coding method. The input digital data stream can be a stream of video image data values. The device can also produce a coding and compression DS very similar to the original input DS from the coded and compressed digital data stream (DS). A dual convolver for forward transform discrete wavelet processing is disclosed, which also performs a matching reverse transform discrete wavelet processing filter. Part of the dual convolver can also be used to filter the incoming stream of digital video image data values prior to the forward separable wavelet processing. As well as reducing the amount of memory that stores data values, addresses are generated for reading and writing data values to memory. |
