abstract (57) [Summary] [Structure] An alkali metal salt of a benzoic acid derivative represented by the general formula (1) is reacted with a polyvalent metal compound in the presence of water, and then heat-treated. A method for producing a polyvalent metal salt, and a method for producing a crystal of the polyvalent metal salt, wherein the amorphous polyvalent metal salt is heat-treated in the presence of water. [Chemical 1] (In the formula, X1 and X2 represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group or a nitro group, Y represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, and R1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aralkyl. Represents a group or an aryl group, R2 is an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, Represents an aralkyl group or an aryl group. [Effect] A polyvalent metal salt of a benzoic acid derivative useful as an electron-accepting compound for a recording material and a crystal thereof are efficiently produced.
